Biography
Born in 1968 in Belgium, Alain Richard discovered his passion for photography at an early age, inspired by the time he spent in his aunt's portrait studio. At 20 years old, after completing his photography studies, he quickly moved to Paris to work as an assistant to some of the most renowned names in the industry, later continuing his journey in New York.
In 1997, Alain launched his own career by signing his first global campaign, marking the beginning of an impressive trajectory. By 2000, he had founded Studio 202, which soon became one of Europe’s leading photography studios. Known for his perfectionism, Alain contributed to major international campaigns and collaborated with prestigious publications, including Vogue USA, Vogue France, W Magazine, and Elle.
In 2014, Alain transitioned to focus on art and portrait photography, mastering the use of natural light to create simple yet powerful imagery. His work emphasizes authenticity, capturing the true essence of his subjects without relying on artificial techniques. His large-format black-and-white portraits are celebrated worldwide and feature in numerous private collections.
Now based in Lisbon, Alain continues to travel with his nomadic studio, meeting the demands of an international clientele while preserving his timeless and distinctive aesthetic vision.
